MATTALEX
A Dive into the mind of an aussie male

Sunday, December 31, 2006

Well a lot has changed since I last blogged. first things first I moved out to look after a farm for 3 months with Andrew, Heather, and Melinda. and that was a real lot of fun.then I went to the Gold Coast with a few of my friends it was a really nice hotel that we stayed in only 100m from the beach. when I got home it was time to get my puppy so I got to go pick her up and take her to the farm that we were looking after, and she got along well with the other dog out there. A few weeks later I stayed home from church with Melinda and I was feeling kinda nervous as I told her how I felt about her after beating around the bush for a while. she said she felt the same so that was a good thing, then I wanted to ask Colins permission before going out with her so 2 and a bit weeks later when I finnally caught up with him he said that he was happy for me to go out with her so that night on November 13th I official asked Melinda out. So now I am very very very HAPPY because I'm in love with a really beautiful person, And I really wanted to blog it and tell everybody I know. Love Matthew Gellert

PUPPY
Well I have been looking for a beagle puppy for a little while but I only started looking around a bit since I got back from kapooka. I asked my old boss Geoff Martin If he knew anyone who had any beagle puppies and he said he would look into it (Geoff breeds dogs but not beagles so he knows a lot of people who have puppies). He gave me a list of people who breed beagles and so I thought I would give them a call after work, so I whent to work on a bit of a high and was talking to one of the other guys I work with and he said that his girlfriend just got a beagle pup and so I gave him my number to give to the people that she got the beagle off and later on that day I got a phone call from a guy to say that he had a bitch that was pregnant and due in 2 weeks. to cut a long story short I gave him a call 2 weeks later to be informed that she was having her 7th puppy as I was on the phone to him. He told me to come around saturday lunch time and I could have a look, so I whent around t his house the mother was a really friendly dog and they also had a male there as well and it was a really friendly dog as well. I got to have a hold of the puppies and they were so cute then I was talking with the owners and lastime the mother dog had pups she laid on top of them and killed all but one of them so I'm praying that she doesn't do that again although when I was there she did half lay on one of them. anyway there is a pic.

HALLWAY 14
Hallway 14 when those words were yelled out that meant that you had to jump out of bed put on your thongs rip the sheets of your bed and run in the halway with the sheets over your sholder then you yell your number you work your way down the hall a person at a time, then you have 15 min to make your bed then have a shave. The worst thing is you have to try and squeeze past 38 other guys to get to the basin then you have to go and get your uniform on, Then it is time for breakfast you have about 15 min you have to line up and dish your own food then sit down and eat it as fast as you can, then you head back to the lines and go and clean your teeth, and get into morning duties. I was room leader which meant that my morning duties were to sweep the floor in our room and then I have to dust then I had to check the beds and open the windows and clean the desk. then we would head off and do different things such as go to the classroom and listen to sombody give a lecture or sometimes we would practice with weapons or we sometimes did drill it was all challenging. In the third week we went out bush for 5 days and we did a fair bit of patroling and it was really good but hard you are walking up a hill then you hear some gunfire you dive for some cover, after we got back from the bush we had a few days of drill then we had our march out which was good because it meant that we could leave. the next day after marchout I caught a bus to the airport and then flew to Melbourne and the caught a bus back to Ballarat, and then Kelly came and picked me up from the bus station and took me to KFC. It was the first junk food for a month it was great.

OFF TO KAPOOKA
It has been a while coming but tommorow I'm heading off. I'm really nervous about what it is going to be like, but once I'm there I am sure I will calm down a bit. The people at the 8/7th Barracks have been really good and telling me all about there time at Kapooka the good the bad and the ugly stories. They are always telling me that I'll breeze through it, which is comforting.
I don't know if we have any internet connection up there so I may not be able to blog but I will try and get my postal address posted well I better go and get some sleep. I have an early start tommorow.

I Decided To Blog Again
Well here goes I have been very busy of late. I have a full-time Job at Home Hardware now and I was given a promotion to panel saw operater after 2 weeks of work which was a nice feeling. My boss is always saying he is impressed with my work ethic which is a change from all my other jobs. I have also done the paper work so that I can join the army reserves and I am currently a DTU ( Defered to Unit) so I go there tuesday nights and do some exercise with them and then do lessons on things like knots or play with night vision goggles. I will be going to boot camp on July 7th for one month and that will be a challenge and when I'm there I would love to get letters from you all while I'm at boot camp I will put my postal address on my blog so you can all mail me :-) well that is all for now. if I don't blog every month then email me and let me know that I'm slack.
